“What’s in a name?”
At BEIT Software, our name carries a story—one rooted in evolution, collaboration, and a touch of serendipity.
We began as CK Modelling, named after our two original founders. That name served us well—until we discovered a nightclub in Chicago with far better SEO. Amusing, but not quite the identity we envisioned. As our team grew and new partners joined, the conversation around our name evolved. Our CTO proposed Beit—a nod to a central building at Imperial College London, his alma mater.
But Beit means more than a place. In both Arabic and Hebrew, it translates to “house” or “home”—a fitting metaphor for the collaborative, welcoming spirit we aim to foster. It’s also a poetic unit in Arabic verse, adding a lyrical layer to our identity.
And for the tech-minded: Beit is pronounced “Bite,” as in “Byte”—the fundamental unit of digital memory. It’s a subtle pun that reflects our roots in modelling, data, and computation. From early laptops with megabyte drives to today’s terabyte-scale systems, we’ve grown alongside the technology we build upon. (Curious minds might enjoy reading up on Moore’s Law—named after Gordon Moore, Intel co-founder, who passed away in March 2023.)
So whether you think of us as a house of ideas, a byte-sized powerhouse, or a poetic structure for technical clarity—welcome to BEIT Software.
